Truth and Reconciliation Cruiser

The Truth and Reconciliation Cruiser is a Winnipeg Police Service community relations vehicle wrapped in artwork designed by Brian Hunter, a contemporary artist of Red River Métis descent and a member of the Winnipeg Police Service. It was created in partnership with the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and unveiled outside police headquarters on Smith Street in Winnipeg on June 30, 2026. The sides of the cruiser show the Seven Sacred Teachings (love, respect, courage, honesty, wisdom, humility and truth), and the back carries two Inuit symbols, the ulu and the kayak. White stitching lines make the shapes look sewn onto the car, and the colours reflect the water, the sky and the land.

“I created the design with my two young boys in mind. I wanted to create some images that would capture their imagination and get them excited about Indigenous knowledge and Indigenous teachings.”
